You don't need a license to fly an Ultralight in the US. They let me take one out after just four short circuits.

I don't think I would make a long term hobby out of this: much too dangerous. The second time I soloed one of the back support wires (seen here looking loose) came off and cut off one of the propeller blades about half way down. This makes for a very shaky decent and landing.
