Overview 

IIRGen is a easy to use, low cost, assembly code generator tool that generates C callable assembler filter routines for Code Composer StudioTM (CCS) and works from within MatlabTM or as a stand alone product. It does all the detail optimization and scaling of coefficients and generates a finished fixed point filter. Background 

It can be tedious and time consuming to design, code, test and optimized fixed point IIR filters for DSP Processors. This requires Engineering expertise which  is more efficiently used on higher level tasks.

Texas Instruments provides IIR filter libraries with Code Composer StudioTM but these only accept fractional Q.15 form coefficients and require tuning for best dynamic range and performance. Typically however, even second order section based filters require coefficients that frequently range between ±2.0.
